I kept a journal with me through most of my life. As the work got a little more movement-oriented, it became hard to capture what I do on paper and I lost touch with the beauty of things jotted down. Process, spontaneity, and the vulnerability of unfinished things. And I missed it.

So here’s to the mess of revival.

LOYOLA MARYMOUNT FALL PERFORMANCE STILLS

Captured normally, the dramaturgy can feel forced or false. What is the role of photography if not to, at times, mess it up in an effort to have it feel more real?

SENDING OUT SMALL PULSES

Experimental prompt with Luca Renzi. A brief study in the futility and grace of reaching out. The poetry of desperation, of wanting to be seen by that which cannot/won’t stop long enough to look back.

TIRED
A contemplation on time. This series entailed documenting the passing of the sun across the sky as experienced on a pile of tires. The play of movement in contrast to stationary objects whose purpose is movement seemed somehow pertinent. Maybe only to my own sense of aging… or tiring?

SUNSETS IN OIL
I was shooting parking spaces with their oil-stained asphalt and turning them upside down. How will we stay warm, find beauty, or warm our hands on the warm glow of engine oil lights when it all goes electric?

Los Angeles, 2023

THE STANDOUTS
We endeavor: run, shop, culture, flaunt and add flair. Why? To be more than who we are? To stretch beyond our limits. To be big.

BOUNDARIES
A series about the human body, our edges, boundaries and the mysterious place where I end and you begin.
